Over the past six months, I had the incredible opportunity to be part of the Israeli Navy’s “GALIM” program. This program, designed for young officers, aimed to broaden their perspectives beyond their daily responsibilities, emphasizing that the maritime arena extends far beyond defense. It also focused on nurturing innovation and instilling the belief that it can originate from any level or form.
Throughout the program, we embarked on an enlightening journey that took us to various harbors, unveiling the extent of Israel’s “maritime blindness” and the untapped potential of the blue economy. We delved into the world of emerging maritime Hi-Tech startups in Israel, discovering the exciting innovations driving the industry forward. These experiences helped us realize that innovation knows no boundaries and can arise from unexpected sources.
As the program reached its grand finale, we embarked on a captivating journey to Italy. There, we delved into the rich maritime military history that serves as the foundation of the Israeli Navy. Immersing ourselves in the roots of our naval heritage, we gained a deeper appreciation for the path that led us to where we are today.

Beyond the program’s valuable lessons and experiences, it provided a platform for introspection and self-discovery. It allowed me to reflect on my personal journey and contemplate the direction in which I want to take DpeR. The program served as a reminder of the incredible journey I have been fortunate to undertake throughout my life.
The Israeli Navy’s “GALIM” program was a transformative experience that broadened our horizons and fostered a deeper understanding of the maritime arena. I am excited to apply the knowledge and experiences gained from the “GALIM” program to further elevate DpeR’s mission and make a meaningful impact in the maritime defense industry.
